How Much Does a Small Business Website Cost in Utah?
Updated November 6, 2026 · By Nate Meyers, Update by Email, Woodland Hills, Utah
Most Utah small businesses pay $800 to $6,000 to build a website and $20 to $500 a month to keep it running. The number most quotes leave out is what it costs every time something on the site changes.

What changes the build price
Number of pages
A typical small business site has 5 to 8 pages: home, services, about or team, pricing, and contact. Most Utah quotes in the $1,500 to $6,000 range assume something like that. Every extra page adds cost, and some studios charge $100 or more per page past the first five.
Template or custom design
A template with your logo and colors is the cheap end. A design made for your business, that looks right on a phone and loads fast, is where most of the money goes.
Words and photos
Many quotes assume you write the copy and supply the photos. If the designer writes it or arranges a photographer, expect that to cost extra.
Features
Online stores, member logins, and custom booking systems are what push a build past $10,000. Most local businesses don't need them: you can link to the booking, ordering, or patient-portal tool you already use.
What it costs every month after launch
- Domain name: about $10 to $25 a year.
- Hosting and security: about $20 to $50 a month, or included in a builder plan.
- Care plan: usually $150 to $500 a month for backups, updates, and a set number of edits. Some include a few changes; some include none.
The cost nobody quotes: changing your site
Websites go stale because changing them is a hassle. Here's a normal year for a small Utah business:
- Holiday hours, three times
- Two new employees, one who leaves
- A price change on two services
- A new service that needs its own page
- A new photo for the homepage
That's about 10 changes. At $100 an hour with a typical one-hour minimum, that's around $1,000 a year on top of hosting. Doing it yourself on Wix or Squarespace costs 5 to 10 hours a year, much of it spent remembering how the editor works.
3-year cost comparison
The fair way to compare is the total over a few years, including changes.
| 3-year total | Who makes changes | |
|---|---|---|
| Wix or Squarespace | $612 to $1,764 | You |
| Budget local studio | $1,700 to $2,800, plus changes | You, or billed per change |
| Freelancer or small agency | $7,900 to $30,000 | Them, on their schedule |
| Update by Email | $6,564 to $6,715, every change included | Us, within the hour of your email |
How we figured it: Wix/Squarespace at $17 to $49 a month for 36 months. Budget studio at $800 to $1,000 plus $25 to $50 a month. Freelancer or agency at $2,500 to $12,000 plus a $150 to $500 care plan. Update by Email: $1,500 plus 35 months at $149 (the first month is included), or $249 a month for 12 months then $149.
If you're comfortable updating the site yourself, a builder or a budget studio is the cheapest way to go. If you'd rather never think about it, the comparison that matters is what you pay for someone else to keep the site current.
Questions to ask before you hire anyone
- Who owns the site and the domain if I leave?
- What does one small change cost, and how fast is it done?
- Is there a contract or a minimum term?
- Are hosting, security, and backups included?
- Who writes the words and supplies the photos?
- What happens on a weekend if something needs to change?
